Long Eaton Astronomical Society Meeting May 21st – The Sun

The next meeting of the Long Eaton Astronomical Society is on Thursday 21st May at 6:30pm. Mr M Perkins of the school is joined by Steve Ibbottson FRAS of Astrosphere to guide us through the life of the Sun, what it is made of, how it works, how it affects us and what lies ahead for it and Earth as it nears the end of its life. Hopefully if the sky is clear we will have chance to observe our local star using one of the school’s purpose made solar telescopes, if not we shall hook up to the very latest images from around the globe that update every minute or less.

Refreshments will be available from 6:15pm. Admission is free to members and for a suggested donation of £2 per adult for non members. Under 16’s welcome but must be accompanied by an adult.
